Hilltops Choir
The Hilltops Choir is an adult community choir based in Young. As its name suggest, the Choir draws its singers from the Hilltops District and beyond, including Cootamundra and Grenfell.
The Choir is under the direction of Rodney Clancy as Musical Director. Rodney travels to Young from Canberra for rehearsals and is also in charge of the Young Town Band. The choir’s accompanist is well known Harden local Stewart Bruce.
The Hilltops Choir embraces a number of different genres of music, from Mozart and Bach to such Musicals as Hairspray and favourites from popular composers. We have had large number of concerts in the past 2 years, including performing with the Sydney Male Choir. We also debuted our Easter Extravaganza concert, which has become an annual event for the Young community.
We are an un-auditioned group and while we have enjoyed a large number of members joining, we are always welcoming newcomers. If you are over 18 and think that you would like to join us, we rehearse on Monday nights during the School terms, from 7.30—9.30pm at the Young Uniting Church Hall.

Joubert Singers

Joubert Singers
Dear brother and sister choirs,
We hope you are all singing well, and that you may be interested in our next concert, on 26 May. This is some information about it:
Voices for Change: songs of empowerment, solidarity and hope from around the world
The power of singing together belongs to all humanity. Join the Joubert Singers and experience the of feeling of purposeful text combined with uplifting music in their upcoming Voices for Change concert.
Presenting music that has inspired change in diverse lands, this program reminds us of the power of music to unite people to achieve a common goal.  From Verdi to The Beatles, and songs from all around the world, you may be surprised to learn of the many ways singing has been harnessed to activate nations, communities and at its most elemental, individuals.
The Joubert Singers began in 1993 as Hunter’s Hill’s own community choir.  It has since woven itself into Hunter’s Hill’s history, commissioning and performing works about the locality and participating in its sesquicentenary celebrations.  While focusing on music by the great choral composers such as Mozart, Bach and Haydn, the choir also sings a wide variety of music from countries around the world.  The choir is fortunate to have the gifted and creative Rachelle Elliott as Artistic Director.
This concert will be held on 26 May at 2:30 pm at St Peter Chanel Church, Futuna St Woolwich. Tickets $20/$25 (available from choir members and at the door).

Macquarie Hospital Gig

Tuesday 4th June, 6.15 for 6.30pm

As we did in October last year, we will be doing another gig at Macquarie Hospital (please note – NOT Macquarie University Hospital). This event will be in addition to the usual Christmas Carols we perform there. It will follow on closely after our joint concert with Hilltops Choir in Young, so the songs will still be fresh in our minds.

For the benefit of new members, this is a worthwhile and very rewarding event to take part in, as the Hospital’s residents, as well as the staff, really appreciate the entertainment that we provide, so please join us for this special event.

To register, please email your Full Name as well as your Voice to me at the address below.
Full details will follow in the coming weeks’ eNews.
We look forward to receiving your registrations soon.

Best wishes,

Sami Kamal –
