Membership renewals and new memberships will be processed on 27 February 2012. Members are expected to commit to both MUS 1 and 2, and as many additional performances during the year as possible. Members may not renew or apply for membership on behalf of any other person. If you are unable to attend on membership night, please contact the Membership Secretary.
Rehearsal dates are as per the Rehearsal Calendar and an 80% attendance rate applies as per the Attendance Policy. Individual circumstances can be discussed as necessary and we will be considerate if you tell us your situation in advance.
MEMBERSHIP PROCEDURE
Existing members check in and hand in their renewal of membership form which is downloadable from the members’ area of the website.
New applicants* complete the membership application form.
Upon payment of the membership subscription, music will be allocated in accordance with Library Information requirements. MUS will hire scores according to the set desirable numbers for any given concert and these scores will be issued on a first-come first-served basis until the scores run out.
* Due to oversubscription, membership is currently closed to new sopranos and altos who are not Macquarie University students, graduates or staff.
CONCERT PERFORMANCES
Membership of the choir does not guarantee singing in a concert. The final decision as to who may perform rests with the Principal Conductor and President. For any inquiries contact the Membership Secretary.
A Limitation of Numbers and Priorities will apply should numbers exceed the viability of the choir, e.g. balance, performance space.
Priorities will apply in the following order:
First priority – Committee members, committee helpers, sponsors
Second priority – Staff, students and graduates of Macquarie University
Third priority – long-standing membership and demonstrated commitment to the choir
Fourth priority – New members
Desirable numbers are usually 40/40/20/20 for Sopranos/Altos/Tenors/Basses respectively, although these numbers may be increased or decreased depending on requirements for a particular activity.
